State and Local Public Policies in the United States is an ongoing research project and data compendium. On this website you can download spreadsheets containing data on policies covering everything from taxes and government spending to abortion to campaign finance, more than 200 different policies in all, for all 50 states. We also provide information on how to use these data to construct indices of policy ideology or individual freedom. The data are now available as of December 31, 2006 and December 31, 2008, allowing researchers to begin to analyze the determinants of policy change across the states on a wide range of variables.
